rise up gallery art exhibition

it just occurred to me that i never posted photos from the rise up gallery art exhibition back in december! the show was up december-january and it was a great show. i loved the space it was in and the opening reception was a fantastic turnout. my work on the walls accompanied by david mccauley (founder of rise up), jay liesener, isabell villacis, laurie kammer, and kenneth martin! the best part about the show, other than the awesome art of course, was chatting up with david, some of the other artists, and a ton of people who came out for the show.

"Rise Up Gallery is a collection of artwork created by artists with disabilities. Proceeds go toward Quality of Life Grants for individuals living with paralysis, Research Grants to Medical Institutions searching for a Cure to Paralysis, and an Adaptive Community Art Space"

8-bit perler bead art

so i had a pretty amazing weekend with my bestie friendie making the old school perler bead art! complete throwback to my childhood and it was the best time ever. i may or may not have just completely copied them off the internet.... but i'm still excited to show my character bead art.

snow and valentine's

in honor of all the pretty magical snow over the weekend (which i approved of since it didn't linger and ruin my life once it stopped), and in honor of valentine's day... here are two drawings from the calendar i made a while ago full of crappy little sketches for my family, of my family.

my day couldn't have been better since i received little kid valentine. nostalgia!

art the bitch out of it

here is a sneaky peeky of the upcoming art book ART THE BITCH OUT OF IT! a 32 page art spectacular featuring 4 artists! including myself, the talented bill hewitt (whose drawings accompany mine above), scott schlauch, and johnny destructo. mr. hewitt and i have been meeting weekly to work hard on our pages and to chat about our future art world domination. you can keep an eye out for even more amazing collaborative projects from the two of us in the very near future!

a quick little painting on wood.

*don't judge my painfully obvious photoshop job to erase the background. my time is better spent painting! :)

salmon

this is salmon the little tiger. i customized one of joe ledbetter's finders keepers toys and turned it into this.  i'm having a few issues with salmon, i'm not convinced by the paint job and i'm contemplating whether to repaint him or not. salmon is made with two real life tiger's teeth!

...okay maybe they aren't tiger teeth, and maybe they are leftover shark's teeth that i've used for my shark customs (hammy mcchum, sir flossalot, and dopey).

i'm going to have to sit on him and decide later on whether to leave him be or repaint/design him. any feedback greatly appreciated!

zeeke

meet zeeke! this one goes out to all you fan boys and girls out there. zeeke is the awesomest fanboy donkey you'll ever meet. zeeke is a customized munny that i made for my geek sister recently.  see if you can pick out and recognize all the awesome references in this little geek.  i tried to tastefully squeeze in as many as possible in the short amount of time i had.  he's pretty fantastic.

okay, if you haven't been able to pick them all out yet, there's..... ghostbusters (hat), lord of the rings (foot tattoo and book), star wars (light saber and tattoo), comic con (pass and poster tube), super mario (mushroom patch), simpsons (t-shirt), harry potter (scar, glasses, and book), x-men (comic book), and the hobbit (book). and yet, there should have been so much more geekiness.
